The small print
Booking terms & privacy
Short, and in plain English. If anything here isn’t clear, message me and I’ll explain it properly.
Last updated 6 September 2026.
Booking
- Appointments booked through this site need at least 48 hours’ notice, so I can plan the day’s travel around them.
- If you’re a regular and you need something sooner, message me on Instagram. I’ll fit you in if I can.
- You’ll get a confirmation email with a reference as soon as you’ve booked. If it doesn’t arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder, then message me — the booking is still there either way.
- I travel to addresses inside the York ring road. Just outside it, ask me first — it’s often fine, but I’d rather agree it than turn up to a postcode I can’t reach between two other appointments.
Changing or cancelling
- Nothing is charged when you book. There’s no deposit and I don’t hold your card details.
- Need to move or cancel? Message me. More than 48 hours ahead, it’s no trouble at all.
- Cancelling inside 48 hours, or not being in when I arrive, means a slot I’d turned someone else away for and a journey I made for nothing. It happens, and once is fine — but if it becomes a pattern I may not take future bookings from you.
- If I have to cancel on you, I’ll tell you as soon as I know and find you another slot as a priority.
Paying
- Payment is on the day: card, bank transfer or cash.
- The total shown at the end of booking is the total you pay. If you change your mind about a design once I’m there and it costs more, I’ll tell you the new price before I start it.
If you’re not happy with your nails
- Tell me within 48 hours, on Instagram, with clear photos taken in daylight. The sooner I see it, the more I can do about it.
- My first answer is always to put it right, free, as soon as I can get to you. That’s what I’d want and it’s what the law asks of me.
- If it can’t reasonably be put right, we’ll sort out a fair reduction or refund instead. Nothing here takes away your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
- Normal wear — a chip three weeks in, a nail caught on a door, a set grown out — isn’t a fault, but message me anyway and I’ll tell you honestly which it is.
What I need from you
- A table or flat surface, a chair each, a plug socket within reach and decent light. I bring everything else.
- Tell me when you book if you have any allergies — especially to acrylates, gel, or acetone — or if you’ve reacted to a set before. It matters more than anything else on this page, and it changes what I use.
- Please don’t book if you or anyone in the house is unwell. I work at arm’s length for an hour and I go straight to someone else afterwards.
When I’ll say no
- If your nails or the skin around them need a doctor rather than a nail tech — an infection, a bad injury, something that looks fungal — I won’t work on them. I’ll say so, there’s nothing to pay, and you’re welcome back once it’s sorted.
- I’ll also stop and leave if I’m threatened, harassed or made to feel unsafe. That’s the whole rule and it’s never been needed.
- I hold public liability and treatment insurance for the work I do.
Your details
PCJ Nails is a one-person business and I’m the only person who sees any of this.
- What I collect: your name, email, phone number, the address I’m coming to, and anything you write in the notes box — including allergies, if you tell me about them.
- Why: to turn up at the right door at the right time, to send your confirmation, to reach you if something changes, and to work safely on your nails. Nothing else. I don’t sell anything to anyone and I don’t send marketing emails.
- Where it’s kept: in the booking system behind this site, which runs on Supabase (database), Vercel (hosting) and Resend (the confirmation email). They store it on my behalf and don’t use it for anything of their own.
- How long: I keep booking records while I need them for my accounts — HMRC expects a sole trader to hold records for around five years. Ask me to delete your contact details and notes and I will.
- Your rights: you can ask what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Message me and I’ll do it. If you think I’ve handled your details badly you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
- Cookies: none for tracking. The site sets nothing that follows you anywhere else.
Getting hold of me
Instagram is fastest: @pcjnails. Or reply to your confirmation email — it comes from an address I read.
